Switching from Intercom

One bill. No meter.

Intercom charges per seat, then charges again every time its AI resolves something. tiny.help is $29 a month for three sites and three people, every feature included — and the AI that drafts your replies runs on the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already pay for, so there is nothing to meter.

Live in two minutes. Cancel in one click. We'll also tell you when to stay put.

Intercom bills you twice

Seats, then outcomes. Two teams the same size can get wildly different invoices, which is what makes it so hard to budget for.

Intercom
$29

Per seat, per month

Essential, billed annually — $39 month to month. A second team inbox, workflows or round-robin routing means Advanced at $85 a seat. SLAs, SSO and separate branding per site mean Expert at $132.

Intercom
$0.99

Per Fin resolution

Charged when a customer confirms they're sorted, or simply doesn't ask again. Minimum 50 outcomes a month — so $49.50 is the floor the day you switch Fin on. Lead qualification is $9.99.

Everything, all in

Three sites, three people, every feature. No per-seat step, no AI charge, no add-on for the thing you actually needed. The next plan up includes your whole team.

Now scale it up

Four real shapes, priced both ways. Intercom on its cheapest tier, billed annually, with the AI actually turned on. Watch what happens to each bill as the sites and the people arrive.

One website · three people USD · per month · annual billing
Them IntercomPer month
Essential × 3 seats$29 a seat billed annually. Month to month it's $39, so $117. $87
Copilot × 3 agentsThe AI that drafts for your team. $29 a seat annually, $35 monthly. Not included on any tier. $87
Fin, at the monthly minimum50 outcomes × $0.99. A busy month of 500 resolutions is $495. $49.50
Intercom, before a fourth person exists $223.50
Us tiny.help FreelancerThree sites and three people, every feature. Your own Claude or ChatGPT plan does the drafting. $29

Both of Intercom's meters run at once. Ten people is ten seats and ten Copilots. Twenty-five client sites that each want their own name on the bubble is the Expert tier on every one of those seats. Ours has a single meter — sites — and from Studio upward the people simply stop being counted.

Intercom figures from intercom.com/pricing, fetched 31 August 2026, at their annual per-seat rates — the cheapest way to buy it. Fin is optional, but a comparison that leaves it out is comparing a help desk to an AI platform. We may have got some of this wrong.

Line by line

Not a scorecard. Two products with genuinely different shapes — the ticks tell you which shape you need.

Intercom capabilities and tiers as published on intercom.com, 31 August 2026.

We may well have got some of this wrong

Every Intercom figure and feature on this page was read off their own website on 31 August 2026 and checked twice. But their pricing has several tiers, add-ons and usage charges, some of it only appears once you're inside an account, and it changes. This is our best effort, not gospel — and we're hardly a neutral party.

Treat it as a guide, not a quote. Price your own case against intercom.com/pricing before you decide anything. If something here is out of date or simply wrong, tell us — we'll correct it the same day and say what changed. This page is reviewed quarterly.

When you should stay on Intercom

A comparison page that can't name what the other product does better isn't a comparison, it's an advert.

Intercom is a genuinely excellent product, and there are teams for whom leaving it would be a mistake. Stay if:

  • You need an AI that answers on its own. Fin resolves a large share of conversations unattended, around the clock, in dozens of languages. tiny.help will never do that — every reply here waits for a person. If your volume is past what humans can read, that is the whole ballgame and $0.99 an outcome is cheap.
  • You run a help centre. Articles, a public knowledge base, content that feeds the AI. We don't have one, and if yours is doing real work you'd be dismantling it.
  • Support is a department. Routing rules, round-robin assignment, SLAs, ticket taxonomies, per-agent dashboards a manager reads on Monday. That's what those tiers are for. Our desk assumes everyone can see everything and nobody needs to be told what to pick up.
  • Customers reach you on WhatsApp, SMS or the phone. We do the web widget and email. That's it.
  • You need SSO, SAML or HIPAA — or a procurement team that needs to see them on a page.
  • Onboarding is the job. Product tours, checklists, in-app banners, surveys. Different product category, honestly.
The short version: if you have a support team, buy Intercom. If you are the support team — a founder, a couple of developers, an agency looking after a dozen client sites — you're paying for an organisation you don't have.

What moving actually looks like

No migration project. Run both for a fortnight and let the old threads die of natural causes.

01

Swap the script tag

Take Intercom's snippet out, put ours in, just before </body>. Every site you own, on the one key each. Webflow, WordPress, Shopify, Rails, a file you edit by hand.

02

Point your support address here

Forward support@ at your desk address and email starts landing in the same inbox as the chat. Replies you send from your own inbox thread straight back into the visitor's chat window.

03

Teach it your voice, once

Paste a page of tone notes — how you open, how you say no, what you'd never write. Connect Claude, and every draft from then on sounds like you rather than like a help desk.

<script src="https://tiny.help/w.js" data-key="wk_your_site_key" async></script>

What doesn't come across: your Intercom conversation history and your help centre articles. Intercom will export your data on request if you want the archive; leave the workspace logged in and read-only until the last open thread is closed. We'd rather say that up front than have you find out in week two.

Who actually switches

This is for you if…

  • You're one to five people and the Intercom invoice has stopped making sense.
  • You look after several sites — your own products, or a client roster — and want one inbox for all of them.
  • You already pay for Claude or ChatGPT and resent being sold AI a second time by the resolution.
  • You'd rather approve a good draft in twenty seconds than supervise a bot.
  • Nobody on the team wants to sit in a chat window all day.

It isn't for you if…

  • Your volume genuinely needs an AI answering unattended overnight.
  • You have support managers, shift rosters and an SLA you report on.
  • Your help centre is load-bearing.
  • Customers reach you on WhatsApp or the phone.
  • Procurement needs SSO and a signed BAA.

Questions.

Is tiny.help cheaper than Intercom?

For a small team, substantially. Three Intercom Essential seats are $87 a month billed annually, before Copilot at $29 a seat and before Fin, which is $0.99 per resolved outcome with a 50-outcome monthly minimum. tiny.help is $29 a month total for three sites and three people with every feature included, and the drafting runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan — so there's no AI line on the bill at all. The full pricing is here.

What if I run more than one website?

That's where the two shapes really part company. Several sites can share one Intercom workspace, but they all answer as one brand — same name, same styling, one Messenger. Giving each site its own face means multibrand Messenger, which is the Expert tier at $132 a seat: three seats step from $87 to $396. tiny.help includes three separately branded sites on the $29 plan, six on Studio and 25 on Agency, all behind one inbox. Check our figures against theirs before you decide, though.

Can I import my Intercom conversation history?

Not automatically, no. In practice most teams run both for a fortnight: point the widget at tiny.help, leave Intercom logged in and read-only for anything still open, and let the old threads age out. Intercom can export your data on request if you want a proper archive.

What does Intercom do that tiny.help doesn't?

Quite a lot, and it matters. Fin answers customers on its own around the clock. There's a Help Center and Knowledge Hub, workflow builders, round-robin routing and SLAs, WhatsApp, SMS, Instagram and phone, product tours and checklists and surveys, reporting dashboards, SSO and HIPAA. tiny.help has none of those. It's a live chat widget, a shared inbox, email both ways, and your own AI drafting replies you approve. The honest version is up there.

Does tiny.help have an AI agent that answers customers automatically?

No, deliberately. The Claude connector reads a conversation and drafts a reply in your voice, and the send tool only accepts a reply you've already approved — a draft, or "reply to #3", or silence is not approval. Nothing reaches a customer without a human saying yes. If you want an AI answering unattended at three in the morning, Fin does that and we don't. Here's how ours works.

Do I have to pay for Claude as well, then?

Only if you want drafted replies. Without any AI at all, tiny.help is still a complete help desk — widget, inbox, email in and out, push to your phone — and you write the replies yourself. If you already have Claude Pro or Max, or ChatGPT, the connector is included on every plan and there's nothing more to buy.

How long does switching take?

The install is one script tag before the closing </body> tag — about two minutes. Add your teammates, paste your tone notes, point your support address at the desk. Most of the fortnight is just waiting for the last Intercom threads to close.

What if we outgrow it?

Then go back, honestly — your data is exportable and your Intercom workspace is still there. We'd rather you spent two months at $29 and learned something than signed an annual contract you resent. If it's a size problem rather than a capability problem, Studio at $79 includes everyone and Agency at $199 covers 25 sites.

Two minutes, and one invoice.

Paste the script tag, invite your team, connect the AI you already pay for. If it isn't better in a fortnight, cancel in one click.

$29 a month, every plan is everything. We'll tell you if you're better off staying.
